For their final middle school StringLab project, students chose to perform music from Pirates of the Caribbean—a decision they made together as a team. But they didn’t just play the piece; they helped reinvent it.

Each student contributed to composing and building a custom backing track to accompany their live performance. Together, they added drum parts, sound effects, and other creative elements that brought depth and texture to the music, making it uniquely theirs.

This hands-on project challenged students to grow not only as instrumentalists but also as composers, producers, and collaborators, giving them the chance to stretch the skills they learned throughout the year and express their creativity in meaningful ways.
