The three Chinese astronauts on board China's Shenzhou-13 spacecraft recorded a video in space extending their wishes for all young volunteers as the world marked the annual International Volunteer Day on Sunday.

In the video, the astronauts praised volunteers for their dedication to the anti-pandemic struggle, rural revitalization and other fields, and encouraged them to make greater contributions to the Chinese Dream.

"December 5 is International Volunteer Day. Here, in China's space station, we send our greetings to young volunteers from space. Happy International Volunteer Day," said Zhai Zhigang, an astronaut aboard Shenzhou-13.

"In recent years, a lot of Chinese young volunteers serve China's overall situation, serve the people and devote their young passion to areas such as pandemic prevention, poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, community development and emergency rescue, which shows their ideal faith, kindness and great sense of responsibility and has composed the song for young volunteers in the New Era," said Astronaut Wang Yaping.

"Put volunteerism into action and devote to the New Era. Let's carry forward the volunteerism of 'dedication, friendship, mutual-help and progress' and be a striver who combines knowledge with practice insist on keeping pace with our motherland and serving the people and make greater contribution to realize the Chinese Dream with young dreams and practice actions," said Ye Guangfu, another astronaut.

The Shenzhou-13 mission crew were sent into space on Oct 16 by a Long March 2F carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gobi Desert.

They are scheduled to undertake a six-month journey inside the station, fulfilling the nation's longest space mission so far.

在视频中，航天员们对志愿者在抗击疫情、乡村振兴等领域的付出表示赞赏，鼓励他们为实现中国梦做出更大的贡献。

“12月5日是国际志愿者日。在这里，在中国空间站，我们从太空向年轻志愿者致以问候。国际志愿者日快乐，”神舟十三号宇航员翟志刚说。

“近年来，很多中国青年志愿者服务中国大局，为人民服务，把他们年轻的热情投向了疫情防控、脱贫攻坚、乡村振兴、社区发展、应急救援等领域，展现了他们理想的信念、善良和强烈的责任感，为新时代的青年志愿者谱写了一首歌。”宇航员王亚平说。

““把志愿服务付诸行动，奉献新时代。让我们发扬“奉献、友谊、互助、进步”的志愿精神，做知行合一的奋斗者，坚持与祖国并驾齐驱，为人民服务，以年轻的梦想和实践的行动，为实现中国梦做出更大的贡献。”另一位宇航员叶光富说。

10月16日，长征二号F运载火箭从位于中国西北部戈壁沙漠的酒泉卫星发射中心将神舟十三号机组人员送入太空。

他们计划在空间站内进行为期六个月的旅程，完成迄今为止中国最长的太空任务。
