American Longbow Build Start to Finish (HillStyle/Flatbow) Handmade custom hunting bow

This is my third ASL / Hillstyle Longbow build using fiberglass. It does get a little easier with each build and I must say with this build I did feel like I moved a little faster through some of the process. That does not make the bow better to go faster though, I just means that I am learning how and what comes next and able to prepare better. I did notice as I worked on this build though that I knew what I wanted from the bow and tried to implement that into the planning and prep work as it applies to sizing the materials. As far as the length and weight of the bow I had planned on it being 66" and 55-60# @ 28" draw. In making a shorter bow with thinner laminations, I was hoping to make the bow faster and better performing than the 70" longbow I named "Longshot" that I built a year. To do so I thinned out the laminations more this time and tried to give the belly lamination a little more taper than before, and yes the bow turned out shorter as expected but the poundage didn't quit turn out as I had hoped. But 47# @ 28" is a good draw weight and the bow's performance, man I couldn't be happier (Well unless it was pulling 55+ and shooting even faster). When I do build another longbow using fiberglass, I will thicken the laminations just a little more and try to taper the belly lamination more so that I can get better bend in my limb tips. I just cannot seem to get that perfect. But that is the name of the game with bow building, Learn more every time. Thank you for watching and God bless!
