Last year I received a call from a client who had a couple of years ago had a spruce tree cut down and a hedge trimmed by me and my assistant, now she wanted me to remove a huge hedge as it was no longer beautiful but looked more like a wild shrubbery and there was a wooden fence inside that could serve as a further fence, so we agreed that I would come and do the work in February.
When the time came I arrived and got to work, after cutting the branches on the street side I saw how bad the old fence was, as it was different from the fence next to it and was much thinner and almost rotted, so I told the landlady. After a little discussion we came to the conclusion that it would be better to put a new fence, having measured the length necessary for the fence, she left to call and order a new fence, when she came back she said that delivery is possible only in a month, so she wanted to postpone further work for a month, because she was afraid that without a hedge the old fence would just collapse and someone might come into the yard or her dog might just run away, but I suggested that I cut all the branches off the trees and leave only the trunks, so that birds would not nest in the spring and then the old fence would not fall down, so we agreed. When I continued the work I cut all the branches from the hedge, I also cut the hedge from the side of the yard, the volume was large so I had to unload the full trailer twice.
A month later I got a message from a client that the fence had already been delivered and it was lying in her garage, so I came back to continue the work, taking with me a winch to remove roots and a stump grinder, I had to give up the mini excavator, because it could dig out all the paving stones with curbs, so I immediately gave up the idea.
I continued the work by removing the ivy near the roots of the tree and the ground, then there were two tree trunks that were wobbly and poorly rooted, so I decided to dig them out by hand using only a spade, after a bit of a struggle I succeeded. Then I had to use a more powerful chainsaw Stihl MS162 to cut down the thick trunks, then I brought and installed a winch and after a short attempt to pull the root out of the ground, I realized that it was useless, perhaps that a 1t hoist is just not suitable for this, so I decided to use a stump grinder and the work began to progress much better. Next I measured the distance with a tape measure and hammered stakes where the fence posts should be installed, as there should be no roots in these places, then dug holes and removed a small laurel bush and removed all the sawdust and soil from the paving stones by moving everything with a wheelbarrow to the trailer.
A couple of days later I came and removed the old fence and the owner's son had already installed the posts and assembled the fence, but these moments I did not shoot on video because he did not want to be filmed on camera, and to everything else, while I was moving the fence to the trailer, the owner's dog bit me on the leg, she could not believe that a dog can bite, but I was not funny, but I did not start to aggravate the attention on it and said that she would not worry about it.
The whole job took me about 12 hours and two full trailers full of branches and took out the old fence!
