Fixing the Noisy Tremolo on Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar

I’m not sure if you’ve encountered the same issue with your Jazzmaster’s tremolo system, but I noticed an annoying clanking noise coming from mine.

Even with the strings on, the noise persisted.

To fix this, I decided to cushion the metal parts to prevent them from hitting each other. My first attempt was using double-sided foam, but it produced an annoying squishy sound. I then tried the soft side of a Velcro strip, and it worked perfectly.

I tested this fix on another Jazzmaster Tremolo System—this one a Fender version with the same mechanism and noise issue. By simply sticking the soft part of the Velcro in place, the clanking stopped completely. Dead silent!
