West is a small town located 120 miles NE of Austin and 70 miles SE of Fort Worth. It's located right of highway 35 and many people like to stop there to pick up kolaches at The Czech Stop or Slovacek's bakery. The town has the largest concentration of Czech Texans in Texas and they celebrate it during the annual Westfest festival. The town itself is located in Central Texas so locals often call it "West comma Texas" to avoid confusion with the West Texas Region. Places that feature live music in the area include Tipsy Lion, Beans and Barley, and Mynar's Bar. Good times.
