Hoda Kobeissi is battling it out to be crowned the winner of MasterChef's 10th season. But the 32-year-old lost a dramatic amount of weight ahead of her TV appearance - and she opened up about her fitness journey in a new interview with Woman's Day.Three years ago, following the birth of her two children, Hoda tipped the scales at 110kg, while her husband Kamahl weighed 130kg at his heaviest and suffered from diabetes.Hoda revealed that she had struggled with her weight from a young age - which the aspiring chef attributes to a mixture of her genetics and being brought up in a food-centric Lebanese family. She said: 'I'd given birth to my second child and I was thinking about my future and my kids growing up. 'I wanted to teach them from a very young age about a healthy lifestyle - I just didn't feel comfortable being the weight I was.' After trying every diet under the sun - including the low-carb ketogenic plan, weight loss shakes and low-fat - Hoda decided to undergo bariatric surgery.  Hoda said: 'I lost the weight very quickly - 55kg in seven months - and I lost a lot of the nutritional aspects of my body.'After dropping the pounds so quickly, Hoda checked herself into hospital fearing for her health but managed to see a surgeon and nutritionist for advice going forward. Now the mother-of-two is a slimline size eight and feels much more healthy and energetic than before. After seeing his wife's impressive weight loss, Kamahl had gastric sleeve surgery which helped him drop from 103kg to 68kg - a loss of 35kg - while his diabetes vanished.Meanwhile, Sunday night's episode of MasterChef kicked off 'Nigella week' - which will see the cookbook author guest starring alongside George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston. But viewers took to Twitter to mock how Nigella Lawson, 58, was tasting the dishes during the evening's intense cook-off. Social media users critiqued the British domestic goddess' table manners - with the commentary ranging from praise to confusion and disgust. One said: 'The way Nigella pushes food into her mouth is so relatable because I, too, often cannot eat as much in one mouthful as I would like.''Omg I love seeing Nigella shovel the food into her mouth with her palm... makes me feel like it's normal when I do it,' another added.
