New Education Policy 2020 aims to overcome the social status hierarchy associated with vocational education and requires integration of vocational education programmes into mainstream education in all education institutions in a phased manner. Some of the main task under NEP 2020 for vocational education are;
By 2025, at least 50% of learners though school and higher education to have exposure to vocational education. Starting with early ages in middle and secondary school, quality vocational education to be integrated smoothly into higher education.
Vocational Education will be integrated in the Educational offerings of all Secondary Schools in a phased manner over the next decade.
Every child to learn at least one vocation and exposed to several more.
Sampling of important vocational crafts, such as carpentry, electric work, metal work, gardening, pottery making, etc., as decided by States and local communities during Grades 6-8
A 10-day bag less period sometime during Grades 6-8 to intern with local vocational experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters, artists, etc
