A Great reminder from the end of 2016 to do a quick check up on how this year is going so far …

In today's video, I'm going to talk about the Harvard goal experiment.

So Harvard Business School did a study on the financial status of its students 10 years after graduation and concluded the following. 27% needed financial assistance. 60% were living paycheck to paycheck. 10% were living comfortably. And only 3% were financially independent. Now this same study looked at the power of goal setting in each one of these groups.

The 27% that needed financial assistance had absolutely no goal setting process whatsoever. The 60% that were living paycheck to paycheck had basic survival goals, like living week to week or paycheck to paycheck. The 10% that were living comfortably, had general goals, so they knew exactly where they wanted to be or where they were going in five years from now.

And then the 3% that were financially independent had written their goals and the steps to achieve their goals. And that's really the take-home message of this video moving into the new year. If you want to achieve your health and fitness goals or any goal in your life, you need to physically get out a piece of paper or a goal card, a 5 x 7 index card and write down your goals.

Research shows that when you read books or you read magazines or articles, what ends up happening is you have better memory retention than if you read it on a tablet or a device or a computer. So I have goals for each area of my life on these goal cards. And I read through them five days of the week. Make sure that you're setting your goals by writing them down. Because research shows, you're much more likely to achieve them by doing that than coming up with some-- you know, finding some goal-setting software or some goal setting app or even typing them out on your device is not going to be as effective as writing them down.
