The Pennine Way Part 9 From the flattest days walk to the Wettest

Описание к видео The Pennine Way Part 9 From the flattest days walk to the Wettest

A couple of Aussies embarking on the UK's original long distant thru hike:- The Pennine Way. Starting from the small village of Garrigill we follow the River South Tyne along the flats into the historic market town of Alston, a beautiful village to visit and learn about the history. From Alston we leave the Pennine Way and head along the beautifully flat South Tyne Trail alongside the railway tracks passing a restored Steam Train and several small sidings, a lunch stop at the Nook Farm Shop & Cafe on our way for the nights stopover in Slaggyford. After a beautiful nights rest we once again set off along the South Tyne Trail only to miss our exit point and walk on an extra 1.5kms or 3kms round trip. Back into the fields only to be slowed up by the wettest underfoot days hiking of the entire Pennine Way! How can the ground be so sodden especially while on the tops of the hills? Trudging our way along the Way thru farmlands, fields full of cows, property full of chickens and ducks, over the water sodden fields down and over the A69 Motorway past the Golf Course only to be harassed by a young horse on a very steep and muddy slope on our way into the Township of Greenhead for the nights stay.
