Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, also known as Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur or Kartarpur Sahib, is located in Kartarpur, Shakargarh, Narowal, Punjab, Pakistan.

Guru Nanak once said, "Speak only that which will bring you honor."

The Kartarpur Corridor, often referred to as the corridor of ‘international peace and harmony,’ is a 4.2-kilometer link between Dera Baba Nanak in India and the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan.

Key Facts:

1. Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated it on November 9, 2019, just before Guru Nanak's 550th birth anniversary, providing Indian Sikh pilgrims with visa-free access to the site.

2. The Gurdwara's location is significant; it is visible from the Indian border, where large groups of Indian Sikhs gather to perform darshan (sacred viewing).

3. It is claimed to be the largest Gurdwara in the world and the second holiest site in Sikhism. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, established the town by the Ravi River in 1515, cultivating the land and founding a community kitchen, or Langar, after his travels. He lived there for 18 years until his death on September 22, 1539. The Gurdwara stands at the site of his death.

4. Guru Nanak promoted three principles: Kirat Karo (work for a living), Naam Japo (remember God), and Wand Chako (share with others). His teachings emphasize peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood, advocating for equality across castes, religions, and genders.

5. The main building was constructed in 1925 at a cost of Rs. 135,600, funded by Sardar Bhupindar Singh, the Maharaja of Patiala. It was expanded in November 2018 to include a new courtyard, museum, library, dormitories, and locker rooms over an area of 42 acres (17 hectares). A 500-year-old well, believed to date back to Guru Nanak's lifetime, is also located on the premises.
