The Dark Lord Sauron, Painting Tutorial

"There is only one Lord of the Ring.....And he does not share power!"

Hey guys! We have a long awaited tutorial for your viewing pleasure today! We finally worked up the courage to tackle The Dark Lord Sauron, creator of the rings of power and seeking dominion over the Free Peoples of Middle Earth.

Apologies for being slightly late in uploading this weeks video, he took longer to edit than we anticipated..

A complicated, yet simplistic model, the colour palettes for Sauron are rather restricted, (being more silvers and greys than anything else) so creating a nice range of effective tones to get a visually impactful model can be challenging.

We show you here how to tackle Sauron using a variety of washes and recessed shading throughout, combined with extreme edge highlighting to really bring the Dark Lord to life on the tabletop. Bringing a variety of complex hues through the tones of the armour and also maintaining his characteristic malice and look from the films.

This is also the first model completely under the new structure and method of painting so we'd love to hear your thoughts on the video as a whole!
