2024 Excellence in Surface Mining Reclamation Good Neighbor Award Black Mesa Pipeline Preparation Plant and Pump Station One Project

The Black Mesa Pipeline Preparation Plant and Pump Station One were constructed in the 1960s to process and transport coal slurry to the Mojave Power Plant in Laughlin, Nevada. Work began with cleanup activities on May 23, 2019, with cleanup and demolition of the facility structures from April 13, 2022, through September 14, 2022. Final grading and revegetation were completed in April 2023 with tilling and seeding to establish a vegetative cover using an approved seed mix. Vegetation monitoring is ongoing, and inspections will be performed on a quarterly basis.
