White Bellied Sea Eagles ~ SE34 Fledges! 🎉 Currawongs Swooping Prompt SE34 To Fly! 10.27.24

SE34 has been alone on the nest ever since SE33 fledged on Friday Oct. 25th. Lady & Dad were at the river and SE34 was getting swooped upon by currawongs. SE34 went up the branch to the right and makes a huge fly down to the nest to escape the currawong strikes. SE34 heads over to the right and one currawong sits on the branch eyeing SE34 and flies off and swoops at SE34. It looked like it did strike SE34 which prompted SE34 to fly off!

Congratulations SE34 - it was a strong fledge. It looked like SE34 flew in the direction of the forest like SE33 did.

From Eaglecam yesterday " Late in the afternoon, our team spotted SE33 across the river, in the mangroves – heard calling and being swooped. Then SE33 was seen flying strongly off away from the river. However, it returned to the mangroves behind river roost and was heard calling. This is the first time we have observed this fledging behaviour. The parents were seen nearby earlier, one with an eel."
