This workshop introduces a minimal attrition approach to robust, reproducible research pipelines suitable for medical students and researchers with minimal coding experience. Participants will learn to create a package-driven R project integrated with GitHub, utilizing a variety of libraries for reproducibility. Key topics include {renv} for dependency management, {testthat} for automated testing, {targets} for tracking outputs and managing the whole pipeline, and {quarto} for sharing findings. Emphasizing the incremental nature of scientific development, the workshop covers good scientific practices, coding techniques for quality enhancement, and ways to reduce naïve-code messiness. Using the GitHub template UBESP-DCTV/laims.analysis, participants will build a project from setup to report production, focusing on easy-to-implement, reproducibility, collaboration, traceability, and testing. The workshop highlights working with non-shared data and the ability to provide evidence and retrieve objects (e.g., processed data, graphs, or reports) at any point after analysis without rerunning it.
