Did some Native American DNA come from
the Middle East? Yes
-DNA type that is passed down mother's line
Mitochondrial DNA Haplogroup X
-original DNA testing showed most Native Americans
have mitochondrial DNA
East Asian type A, B, C, D
But another was also discovered:
Mitochondrial DNA Haplogroup X

This DNA type did not appear to come from East
Asia, so first reaction was: this is not ancient DNA…
-it looked Middle Eastern in origin
Since that initial reaction, it has been proven to be
an ancient Native American DNA type that was in the
Americas during the Book of
Mormon timeframe

It has been found in ancient American skeletons,
including some buried in Hopewell burial mounds
that have been carbon dated to BoM timeframes…
-this is no longer in dispute
Now, questions on whether it was from Middle East &
was it in BoM timeframes
-here are some points from book
Face of a Nephite

Three ways to consider where Native American
ancestry came from
-concentration
-nearest relatives
-diversity
All point to the Middle East as the origin
