As a previous law student and student loan borrower, Lorraine is spreading the word about this powerful, innovative legislation co-sponsored by Rep. Joe Courtney of Connecticut and Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont, designed to reform laws concerning repayment of student loans.

This bill, which was reintroduced to Congress on July 27, 2023, would allow existing borrowers to refinance their loans to 0% interest and cap the interest rate at 4% for future borrowers. The bill also provides a sliding scale for calculating interest rates on student loans for new borrowers (not to exceed the 4% cap).
