Recommendation Mapping (RecMap) is a new approach to organizing health recommendations that makes it easy for guideline developers and users to access the most up-to-date information. Developed by Dr. Holger Schünemann and his team at McMaster University, a RecMap is a user-friendly online repository of recommendations for a single condition from multiple guidelines, including links to the underlying evidence and expert judgments that inform each recommendation. RecMaps should allow guideline developers and others providing recommendations to organize their work meaningfully, standardize the automated publication of guidelines through links to the GRADEpro guideline development tool, and increase the accessibility and usability of the guidelines . In this lecture, Dr. Schünemann will cover the structure, use and benefits of RecMaps, using the tuberculosis RecMap based on the WHO guidelines and the COVID-19 RecMap funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health (CIHR) as practical examples.
