Breaking News: The Election Commission of India has launched the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across nine states and three union territories.

The enumeration process began on November 4 and will continue until December 4, 2025. The draft electoral rolls are expected to be published on December 9, after which citizens can file claims and objections until January 8, 2026. Hearings and verifications will continue until January 31, 2026, with the final rolls scheduled for February 7, 2026.

This nationwide exercise aims to update and verify voter data, ensuring accuracy and inclusivity across all states. Opposition parties have raised concerns about the process, citing potential disenfranchisement, while the Election Commission assures a transparent and fair procedure.
