In China, luxury Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana is under fire for a series of ads. The ads were supposed to promote a fashion show in Shanghai this week, but instead caused claims of racism and cultural ignorance on social media. They depict a Chinese woman, struggling to eat typical Italian food with chopsticks. The ad is accompanied by traditional Chinese music, which critics call outdated and stereotypical. The ads have been canceled, and so has the show. But the fallout is growing. Chinese sites have already begun to stop selling Dolce & Gabbana goods on their platforms.
