The Thirteen Stroke Roll is essentially an Eleven Stroke Roll with an additional double stroke. The last single stroke of The Thirteen Stroke Roll is accented. This video demonstrates working on the thirteen stroke roll first as seven even 16th note single strokes and then progresses to doubling the first six single stokes and making them double strokes. As always, start slow and get comfortable with the sticking and timing of the rudiment. The Thirteen Stroke Roll begins and ends with the same lead hand so you can easily alternate this one, playing one grouping leading with the right hand and the next grouping with the left hand. Be sure to practice alternating your lead hands. As always, have fun with this one!
