Today on our 2010 Nissan Armada we're going to be taking a look and installing the CURT class three trailer hitch receiver, part number 13188. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. This hitch will do really well for anything you may need to use it for because it's going to give you plenty of clearance. You've got good access to your hitch pinhole and you've also got good access to your safety chain connection points here. It also tucks up very nicely to where the only bit of the crosstube that you can see is just right here where this cover was. Other than that, it's nicely hidden behind the fascia to where it doesn't really take away from the look of your vehicle. This hitch features a 600 pound max tongue weight rating and a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight rating rating, which are both up to 1,000 pound tongue weight and 10,000 pound gross trailer weight rating with a weight distribution system.

You do want to be sure to check the owner's manual to see if it's rated for that type of weight. Now I'll give you some measurements to help with your selection of hitch-mounted accessories such as ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers. The distance from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost part of the rear bumper is 1-1/2". The distance from the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening to the ground is about 20-3/4". Let's show you how to install it. First thing we'll need to do before we install the hitch is we'll need to location our attachment points.

On both sides we're going to have two weld nuts that are close together here at the rear of the frame. A little bit farther up we'll have one more. In order to clean these out, what I'm going to do is use a little bit of spray lubricant, spray it up into the weld nuts there in the frame. Then I'm going to take a tube brush. If you don't have one, need to pick one up, you can pick one up on our site, part number 814092.

Then just put it up into the weld nut, just work it around just to help clean up those threads. We'll do this for all of them. Now you may need to lower the spare tire in order to get your hitch to fit up into place. Now it's a good idea to grab an extra set of hands. Then you can feed your hitch up into place. Once you've got it lined up you can install one of the 12mm bolts with conical tooth washer, with the teeth facing up towards the hitch.

Once you've got your hitch up and got it started, if it's having a hard time angling down to where you can line up those forward-most holes, you can stick a pray bar in here and just pry down on it in order to pop it down in get it into position. Then once you've got one started on each side you can go back and get the rest of your hardware started. Once I've got all of my hardware started, I can take a 3/4" socket and begin to tighten them down. Then once we've got them all tightened down we can go back and check the torque to make sure they're torqued properly according to the instructions. We'll do that same thing all the way around. We'll make sure that our spare tire is up and completely secure underneath the vehicle. That's going to complete our look at and installation of the CURT class three trailer hitch receiver, part number 13188, on our 2010 Nissan Armada.
