The SMMC-7721 hepatocarcinoma cell line is derived from a Chinese male patient with hepatocellular carcinoma. The SMMC-7721 cell line is an excellent host for studying liver cancer.
The SMMC-7721 liver cell line is used to create the CDX (Cell Line Derived Xenograft) SMMC-7721 xenograft mouse model, a highly utilized CDX in cancer research to study new, low toxicity antitumor therapeutics or combinatorial therapies that incorporate the standard of care drugs. The SMMC-7721 xenograft model is essential for biomedical research related to human liver cancer.
Xenografting is the transplantation of tissue from one species into another.
Xenografting has been established as benchmark studies in pre-clinical cancer research.
