Within evangelical Christianity, there is a common teaching about God being Sovereign, that He is in control, that nothing happens unless God allows it, that He has a perfect plan for life. This can create a safe sense of security for those dealing with Complex Trauma.

For those who grew up in Complex Trauma, they often felt unsafe and unsecure. So when they hear about God and learn about how nothing happens without the will of God, this begins to fulfil that need. But is that the right way to look at this?

In this video, Tim looks at examples from his history of people looking at the Sovereignty of God and the plan that God has and begins to deconstruct the conclusion that many people often draw to with this thinking.

With the thinking that God is in control, that He has a plan, we need to look at the role of mankind and establish our roles and responsibilities. Back in the Garden of Eden, God entrusted authority to humans to be stewards of the earth and everything in it. So what is the role of humans within God’s divine plan? What are we called to do?
