PENGUIN ISLAND | Shoalwater Islands Marine Park

Описание к видео PENGUIN ISLAND | Shoalwater Islands Marine Park

Penguin Island is 30 minutes south of Perth and only a 5 minute ferry ride across from the mainland. Penguin Island is home to a colony of over 1,000 penguins which is the largest population of penguins in Western Australia. Penguin Island is the heart of the spectacular Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.

We catch the ferry across, before transferring to another boat for a cruise around the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, check out Seal Island and the sea lions that call it home.. Watch as we encounter some dolphins and their calves frolicking in the waters. We will see a sting ray or two as well as many many birds..

Whilst I didn’t see any of the wild penguins whilst visiting the island (they must have been safe hidden away sleeping in the many caves/rocks around the coastline.. We did stop for a visit and feeding of the penguins that have been rescued when harmed in the wild.

Seal Island is a bird sanctuary.. with parts of the island not accessible to the public for the wildlife’s protection. There are no shops, no roads, and no cars/motorbikes or bikes on the island. Many boardwalks lead you around the island without causing damage to this beautiful island.
