Curral das Freiras, Cabo Girao + Cascata dos Anjos, places not to miss on your next Madeira vacation

After collecting our rental car, we went in search of some of the best views in Madeira that you can drive to - no hiking effort necessary. After getting to grips with the steep mountainous roads with sometimes scary narrow parts, we arrived at Curral das Freiras, otherwise known as the Valley of the Nuns, Madeira. Called this as in the 1500's, French Pirates invaded the city of Funchal, so the nuns from the Santa Clara convent sought refuge in this village, and thus the name came about. This small village is nestled in a valley and is surrounded by lush greenery. It's the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of nature Our next stop was at the Cabo Girao viewpoint on Madeira Island. From the viewpoint you're meant to see dramatic cliffs of Cabo Girão, and if lucky, it's possible to spot whales out in the ocean. Our experience however was much more disappointing than this. So on we went to our next stop - Cascata dos Anjos, Ponta Do Sol. This is a unique, and pretty spectacular Waterfall onto the road in Madeira island. We then drive onto Arco da Calheta which would be our home for the next 4 nights of holiday on Madeira, and I'll show you guys a quick AirBnB tour of our apartment and its jaw dropping views.
