Even though an octopus is a brilliant animal, this obviously doesn't mean the surgery will be done with an octopus (unfortunately!) Prof. Breedveld's uses smart solutions from nature to serve as an inspiration for even smarter technical solutions. In the Bio-Inspired Technology group, he and his colleagues work on developing all kinds of devices for medicine, from extremely thin steerable needles to 3D printed hands.
