Chandigarh Mayor Election: The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, took a stern stance on the recently held Chandigarh mayoral elections, directing the sequestration of the entire election record under the custody of Punjab & Haryana High Court Reg Gen. The Bench further deferred the scheduled February 7 meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation until further orders. Expressing concern over the perceived mockery of democracy in the elections, Chief Justice Chandrachud condemned the actions of the presiding officer and vowed not to allow democracy to be compromised.
