Bengal Monitor (Varanus bengalensis) (Common Indian Monitor) hunting a frog and a inquisitive squirrel. I always observed them hunting hidden prey by smelling it out with the long and forked tongue.
Interesting to see how the Bengal Monitor locates and pulls out the frog out from a tree cavity, where it must be hiding. The lizard uses its long tongue to smell it out. They also find earthworms , crabs, frogs buried under soil and dig them out to make a meal.
The squirrel peeps to see what action is happening on the tree.
