It is 90 years since the National Motor Museum’s Sunbeam 1000hp became the first car to exceed 200mph.

On 29th March 1927, Major Henry Segrave drove this astonishing machine at an average speed of 203.79mph at Daytona Beach in Florida, setting a new World Land Speed Record.

This fascinating period footage shows Segrave’s historic record-breaking runs along the beach.
