Pride of the Dartmouth Steam Railway's locomotive fleet, 7827 "Lydham Manor" is settling back in to service on the English Riviera, having recently returned to steam following an extensive overhaul.

7827 was only the 5th locomotive to be saved from Woodhams Scrapyard in south Wales when it was rescued in 1970, first steaming in preservation in 1973. Over the following 5 decades, the 'Manor' has become a regular standout performer on the DSR, alongside cultivating a reputation for its accopanying ferocious soundtrack as it battles the challenging gradients of the Kingswear branch line.

The 'Manor' was most recently withdrawn in October 2020 for an overhaul, having previously returned to service in 2011. 7827 would re-emerge in late 2023, returning to service shortly afterwards. With 2024 marking 51 years since it first steamed in preservation, 7827 is currently settling back into regular use on the DSR, now sporting BR green livery with a late crest.

On this ocassion, 7827 would be working the DSR's Green timetable. 2024 also marks the 160th anniversary since the opening of the Kingswear branch line.
