In this video you will be watching a real time and time lapse mixed video. A close up look at these very tiny sugar / Odorous House Ants (Tapinoma sessile) as they feast during a semi-controlled setup. This is, “Natural ant antics with a nudge,” if you will.
This video starts off as the normal but to spice it up a little bit from the normal i fed the colony a decent amount of sugar water all happening in close up time-lapse form. At some point the video changes to real time so you can get a better look at the speed at which the ants normally move at.
These ants are only 1/16th to 1/8th an inch or 1.5 to 3 mms in size and can be a handful for my auto focus at times. If you don't let the amature video work at times get in the way, these videos have a lot to offer to the ant or even insect lover. This one was really fun for me. I'm happy to share it with you.

For this series, I’m feeding the colony scrambled eggs again with a bit of melted shredded cheese. Egg seems to be one of their favorite foods as well as my favorite to watch, And who doesn't like a bit of cheese?

Every video is uploaded in the order it was filmed, whether it turned out great or not. So you can follow each mistake, adjustment, and milestone exactly as it happened. Nearly all videos are single-cut with no edits or removed clips, keeping the process transparent and true to form.
Over time, I plan to upgrade the setup piece by piece as I can to enhance how we can experience these tiny creatures in action together.
