At a time when precise, accurate, infallible order reigns in technology, microtechnology and nanotechnology, but in real life, politics, and the economy there is ever-increasing and increasingly uncontrollable chaos and disorder, I tried to find out what the famous set of tones 0-1-4-6 is telling me today (for example C, Cis, E, Fis), which is one of those two (the other is 0-1-3-6 or C Cis, Dis, Fis) in the multitude of possible sets that it has a unique structure - namely, it contains all existing and complementary intervals - each one only once - which gives it the status of a particularly interesting arrangement, which many composers in recent history were aware of. The brass quintet seemed to me to be an excessive composition for testing and revealing the "mysterious set", whose determinism sooner or later the tonal material of the BRASS composition had to inevitably oppose, especially with the microscopic enlargement into micro-intervals. BRASS was commissioned by the brass quintet SI BRASS and is also dedicated to the members of this ensemble.
