I interlocked My Roots Again | Semi Free forming?

Here is an up close look at my locks after interlocking my roots. My goal is to semi free form this set of locks, but since some areas of my hair is super short I've run into some problems. Retwisting is not a practical option for me since my scalp requires frequent washing. I did not notice a problem where my locks are longer so I think this will be a temporary plan until my shorter areas grow longer.
