About Folk Song:
This is a Gaddi(Himalayan Tribe) folk song.Usually people sing it on the occasion of Vaishakhi (Basoya in gaddi dialect). It is said that all women of the neighborhood join each other on a common yard and sing basoya for hours. This story is in three parts:one is about mother and daughter, second is about mother in law and daughter in law and third is about sister and brother.
The one you are listening is about mother in law and daughter in Law.Daughter in law is asking permission to go her maternal house because of the festival. But her mother in law is more interested in her doing chores.And chronologically,mentally tortured her. And it is said that she felt heart broken and died while entering in the room, on the threshold one foot was inside and and one was outside of it.
For this song the motivation is my mother. She sings it always.Since my childhood I'm listening this from her and have decided to record it.
