2025 Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch Review: Can It Hang Off-Road?

It’s time to test drive and review the new 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch!

You’re not behind or living under a rock if you’re wondering: “Uh, there’s a Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch?” Its release date is today, and Ford brought me and others out to its Off-Roadeo ranch in Maryville, Tennessee to off-road the car early. Ford says the Bronco Sport Sasquatch will be available in Q1 of 2025.

First, let’s start with the base question: Ford Bronco vs. Bronco Sport SUV. The Bronco is the big off-roader meant to compete with the Jeep Wrangler, and it’s based on a modified version of the Ford Ranger pickup truck’s platform. It’s body-on-frame and has more flex for off-roading, as well as a bunch of extra off-road features.

The Bronco Sport is the little guy. It’s based on the Escape crossover, and it’s unibody. That means it’s more efficient and car-like, but it has less flex.

The big Bronco has 2-door and 4-door models, as well as an optional soft-top and the choice between an automatic and a manual transmission. All Bronco Sports are 4-door with 8-speed automatics.

The Sasquatch package came on the big Bronco when it returned to the market for its 6th generation in 2021. But the Bronco Sport hasn’t gotten the package — until now.

The Bronco Sport Sasquatch has features like a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, a locking rear differential, steel underbody protection, Bilstein rear shock absorbers, big, 29-inch all-terrain tires, and more. It can ford up to 23.6 inches of water (compared to the big Bronco’s max of 33.5), and it also has 8.3 inches of suspension travel in the front and 9 inches in the back.

In 2025, there are five trims of the Bronco Sport: the base-model Big Bend, the retro Heritage edition, the also retro Free-Wheeling, the Outer Banks, and the Badlands. The bottom four trims have a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine with 180 horsepower minimum, while the Badlands gets a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder EcoBoost making 238 horsepower minimum. No hybrid here (yet, I guess), and Ford hasn't announced any pricing for the 2025 Bronco Sport or the Sasquatch package.

The Bronco Sport Sasquatch has a bunch of adaptive driving modes, and I tested Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and Rally. It also has trail control (think cruise control, but slow for off-roading) and one-pedal driving, a mode where you can accelerate and brake with just the gas pedal.

In this video, we’ll go on a full tour of the 2025 Bronco Sport Sasquatch: interior, exterior, appearance, mechanical features, off-road hardware and software, storage and cargo space, features, pros, cons, seats, things I think could be long-term problems (mainly, the light-gray interior color), and more.

Thanks for watching my YouTube channel. Enjoy the drive (and the video)!
