DS SM Tribute Concept Revealed

The iconic Citroën SM has made a return sort of. While it is not a Citroën this time around, the concept car is branded as a DS to commemorate ten years since DS Automobiles became an independent brand under the PSA Group, which is now part of Stellantis following the merger with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2021.

This one-off concept, called the SM Tribute, imagines how the SM might have evolved if it had stayed in production beyond 1975. The retro-futuristic design includes a 3D light bar in place of the original model's glass panel front, and modern LED strips instead of the swiveling headlights. It is also larger, wider, and sits lower to improve aerodynamics, with sleek 22-inch wheels replacing the old 15-inch ones.

On the inside, there are only subtle nods to the original SM, such as the shape of the dashboard and seats. The rest of the cabin is packed with screens, and even the steering wheel has its own display. Although DS has not shared details on the powertrain, it is likely an electric vehicle. However, there are no plans for the SM Tribute to enter production, as DS faces pressure from Stellantis to remain profitable in a competitive market.
