What’s going on:
In the composer's own words, he started setting tweets to music because "he had nothing better to do with his time" after finishing a larger work of music. He included it as part of a collection he called Craigslistlieder & Twitterkreis in which he adapts texts from tweets and Craigslist missed connection ads into short songs. The publication could be seen as a cultural commentary on the state of the world in the late 2010s. The reason I included this as a concluding piece for this recital even though it is, ostensibly, about cats, is that it is a perfect summary of the general sentiment expressed by the women composing, singing or being portrayed in all the pieces in this recital; that though they are powerful beyond measure they are forced by society to fight through systems of power that control and infantilize them, much to their detriment and their rage.
