Yindra Velazquez was the best friend of convicted murderer Katherine "Katie" Magbanua. They were friends in high school and became close friends again years later, both working briefly at a night club as "bottle girls" and then working for the same realty company. They helped each other out with their children and were planning to go to Disney World together in spring 2016, when Katie's children's father Sigfredo Garcia was arrested for the murder of FSU law professor Dan Markel. Katie Magbanua was then arrested that October. Yindra Velazquez was subpoenaed by the State & testified at both of Magbanua's trials, in 2019 and 2022. She was also subpoenaed for Charlie Adelson's trial in 2023, but ultimately was not called to testify.
