Altesino was founded in the mid 1970s by Guilio Consonno. It was sold in 2003 to Elizabetta Gnudi Angelini, who owns a number of other wineries, including Caparzo. They produce a single vineyard Brunello called Montosoli.

In order to be called Brunello, this wine needs to age for 5 years, 2 year in oak and at least another 4 months in bottle. This wine, the Altesino 2013 Brunello di Montalcino, was first produced in 1972 and is 100% Sangiovese.
