NASCAR and its Cup Series Chase for the cup propelled the series to new heights. However, entering its third season, problems began to present themselves. The race for the chase become somewhat dull and wins appeared to still not matter. On top of minor issues that became apparent, it was evident that for 2007 an adjustment would be made, making The Third Chase, the last under the original format.
