*Class 9 Student's Murder Solved in 24 Hours; RGU Student Confesses
On 22/08/2025, at around 0800 hrs, information was received that a dead body was found at Dokum Colony (Down Police Colony), Naharlagun. Accordingly, FSL team was requisitioned, which collected the required forensic evidence from the scene.
During the inquest, the deceased was found in a half-naked condition, wearing only a black half-pant, lying near the doorstep inside the room. Four injury marks were observed on the facial region, suspected to have been inflicted with a sharp weapon.
The deceased was identified as Mr. Nitul Nath (16 years), S/o Shri Balaram Nath (Cook of SP Itanagar), a Class IX student of Global Academy, Naharlagun.

Based on the available lead, one person, namely Norbu Dawa Sona (Age 22 yrs), a Master’s 3rd Semester student of Rajiv Gandhi University and resident of Dokum Colony was detained for further questioning.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to the murder of Shri Nitul Nath on the night of 21/08/25, while under the influence of intoxicants. He further admitted that after committing the crime, he fled from the scene and disposed of the weapon of offence.
Further investigation revealed that the accused shared a close friendship with the victim, often acting as his guide and guardian. On the intervening night of the unfortunate incident, the accused discovered a used pouch of ganja from the victim’s possession, which led to a heated argument, as he had been attempting to dissuade the victim from using contraband substances. The altercation escalated, ultimately resulting in the murder of Shri Nitul Nath.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station vide NLG/PS/Case No. 112/25 U/S 103(1) BNS.
