The Song
"Lea" is a 1968 song by The Cats. The song is a tribute to a fan of The Cats who died in 1967 as a result of a traffic accident. The song was played for the first time during a concert of the Cats in Cultura in Andijk. It was the first track from the studio album Cats.
The song tells a true story and is about the then 19-year-old Lia Vertelman from Wervershoof. Lia was a fan of The Cats from the very beginning and regularly attended concerts.

Lyrics
How do you feel, loving a rose?
Guarding her life day and night
How do you feel, losing that rose?
Killed by a storm you can't fight
(Lea, Lea) Girl, now you're gone
(Leaving, leaving behind) The memory of your smile that will never leave my mind
Where are those words I heard you say?
You would forever be mine
Where are those words?
How can I pray, losing a love so divine?
(Lea, Lea) Girl, now you're gone
(Leaving, leaving behind) The memory of your smile that will never leave my mind
(Lea, Lea) Girl, now you're gone
(Leaving, leaving behind) The memory of your smile that will never leave my mind
(Lea, Lea) Girl, now you're gone
(Leaving, leaving...)
