Five people killed in multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in Wilson County; all northbound lanes closed

One lane of Interstate 95 Northbound is back open Wednesday afternoon after a deadly crash in Wilson County just past the Johnston County line. The crash was reported before 2 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Mile Marker 113 near Kenly. According to state troopers, five people are dead.

A state trooper told WRAL News a tractor trailer carrying orange juice failed to stop for slowing traffic due to a lane closure. The tractor trailer then collided with two cars and a second tractor trailer carrying eggs. The truck carrying orange juice caught fire and was destroyed. A third tractor trailer carrying sand was also involved and received minor damage.
