United States Justice Department has filed criminal charges against top Hamas leaders for their roles in the October 7 attacks in southern Israel. The charges are largely seen as symbolic, and name six defendants, three of whom are deceased. The deceased include former Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh and military leaders Mohammed Deif and Marwan Issa, who were all reportedly killed by Israeli forces.
