Screenwriter Marilyn Fu on The Sisterhood of Night

TaiwaneseAmerican.org's Ho Chie Tsai chats with screenwriter Marilyn Fu about her new film, "The Sisterhood of Night." Inspired by Steven Millhauser's short story of the same name, "The Sisterhood of Night" tells the story of a group of teenage girls who have formed their own secret society and meets in the forest after dark. When word leaks out in their small-town high school through gossip chains and social media, suspicion arises about their activities, but the girls refuse to explain themselves after having taken a vow of silence. The ensuing investigation and media coverage turns ugly, but the question remains: Who is innocent and who is guilty?

Ho Chie and Marilyn chat about diversity in casting and this opportunity to write in a character storyline that includes three generations of a Taiwanese American family inspired by her own.

The film will soon be released in theaters nationwide and on VOD starting April 10, 2015.
