This year, Marathi cinema made history. One in four of India’s Oscar-running films is Marathi. Sabar Bonda won the Grand Jury Dramatic Prize at Sundance, putting India on the global map. Sanju Rathod’s music is breaking records, and Taambdi Chaamdi under Spinning Records (Warner Bros) entered the global Top 3.

But the story goes far beyond films and music. Maharashtra gave India its first feature film. Today, Marathi cinema is emerging as a soft power shaping identity, culture, and influence worldwide.
Are we underestimating our own strength?
