Taliban Split: Mullah Hassan Akhund Likely To Head Taliban Govt: Sources | India First

The Taliban have nominated Mullah Hasan Akhund as the new head of state, according to sources. At the same time, Mullah Ameer Khan Muttaqi has been declared Afghanistan's new foreign minister.
Reports also cited statements by senior Taliban leaders to say that the announcement of the new government scheduled for Monday was postponed due to "some unavoidable" reasons. The announcement could be made on Wednesday or "may get delayed for a few more days", Taliban leaders told Pakistani media outlet The News International.
