StarsAppearing Sonification (Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System)

Описание к видео StarsAppearing Sonification (Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System)

This is a sonification of the stars appearing about the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile. The brightest stars appear first in the audio, to represent the brightest stars appearing first to the human eye after sunset. The bluest stars are represented as high notes and the reddest stars are low notes. In the visuals a 'pulse' is shown to indicate the location of the star that can be heard in the audio. The stars do not pulse in reality like this, they just gradually become visible as the sky darkens and the human eye adjusts to the darkness.

The original version of this sequence was created for the show Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System. It is in a full dome format (hence the video is inside a circle). A show about the Solar System that aims to be accessible to audiences irrespective of their level of vision.
