Fatima in Portugal is the scene of intense devotion to the Virgin Mary who it's believed appeared to three children there over a century ago.

In 1917, three children claimed they were visited by the Virgin Mary at a place called Fatima in Portugal. Since then, a huge basilica has been built on the site and thousands of pilgrims walk on their knees to reach the site of the vision. It's a bizarre and sometimes quite distressing site captured by TV historian Tony McMahon on his visit in 2019.
